  • Haryana is 22nd Largest State in India by area.
  • It came into existence on 1st November 1966 by carving out the state of Punjab through Punjab Reorganization Act, 1966.
  • Faridabad is the most populous city of the state.
  • Blackbuck is the National animal and Black Francolin is the National Bird of the State of Haryana.
  • Lotus is the State Flower and Peepal is the State Tree.

  • State also has some of the Research Institutes like Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes, Central Sheep Breeding Farm, Central Institute of Fisheries, National Dairy Research Institute, National Research Centre on Equines and many more.
  • Major Dams of the State of Haryana includes Kaushalya Dam in Panchkula district, Hathnikund Barrage and Tajewala Barrage on Yamuna in Yamunanagar district, Pathrala barrage on Somb river in Yamunanagar district, ancient Anagpur Dam near Surajkund in Faridabad district, and Ottu barrage on Ghaggar-Hakra River in Sirsa district.
